Eligibility

Here at Boomerang Cardiff we pride ourselves on the fact that we will help anybody and that you do not need to fit into any sort of category, or ‘tick any box’ to receive help from us.

Working? Receiving benefits? Pensioner? Asylum seeker/refugee?

To us it doesn’t matter, we are all human and everyone will be treated equally.

However we are aware that  there are certain grants and funds, that people claiming eligible state benefits can access, that some people simply cannot and we will always urge people to pursue these avenues first.

The main grant is the DWPs Discretionary Assistance Fund (DAF). This grant is for white goods such as a fridge, cooker and washing machine and also essential home items such as beds, bedding and seating.

Boomerang Cardiff will not issue any white goods until people who qualify for a DAF, have applied. However, If you are refused, come and see us WITH the letter of refusal, and we will do our very best to help you.

You can apply for a DAF if you are a resident in Wales and in receipt of:

Income Support
Income-based Job-seeker’s Allowance
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
Pension Credit or Guaranteed Pension Credit

You can find the DAF application form here

*IMPORTANT* – You MUST bring your DAF letter of refusal as proof. Failure to do so will result in a request being delayed
