Period poverty is the lack of access to sanitary products due to financial constraints. this can be caused by a wide range of life events that negatively impact on a girl or woman’s ability to access sanitary products to manage a most intimate and regular occurrence in her life.
Period poverty is the inability to afford sanitary products such as tampons. but it can also relate to a lack of understanding of menstruation. Governments have come under fire for matters such as the tampon tax. which is thought to contribute to period poverty Tampon tax was abolished in the UK on Jan 1st 2020 after no longer being mandated by the EU’s VAT directive. but still women are finding it difficult to afford or access essential sanitary products.We are committed to making sure that girls and women have access to sanitary products when they find themselves unable to afford them.
